Hi. My name is Meg. I’m mom to my curious little girl, Holden, and my handsome little man, Gatsby (I was an English major).

oh, bother. was created out of my struggle as a working mom in a Pinterest world. I’m a DIYer wannabe and creative design appreciator, but I usually find myself falling a bit short in the execution. You’ll see.

Little Gatsby Shirt from littlewakka The Great Gatsby comes out tomorrow! The Great Gatsby comes out tomorrow!

Okay, so I know I've already written some posts about The Great Gatsby, but I really do love me some F. Scott Fitzgerald. I've seriously read every short story or book he's ever written and he was the topic of my senior college thesis (along with Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner).

My husband, however, is not what you would call "a reader." In fact, he's only ever read two legitimate books in his life: The Catcher in the Rye, hence our daughter being named Holden, and.... The Great Gatsby. So this has led to some discussion about Gatsby being the name of our next child, boy or girl.

Gatsby as a boy's name is rising in popularity, thanks to the new movie coming out (tomorrow! woo!), but according to Nameberry, Gatsby is also rising in popularity for girls' names as well. Hm. I'm not fully convinced that I can go there. Mr. B is all for it, which is odd, considering he was hesitant about using Holden for a girl's name in the first place.

Nameberry also has a post on Fitzgerald names beyond The Great Gatsby, which has me thinking about other great, Gatsby-esque names that could also be up for consideration:

  • Scottie: F. Scott Fitzgerald's daughter's name
  • Amory: This Side of Paradise

  • Percy: The Diamond as Big as the Ritz
  • Anson: The Rich Boy
  • Roscoe: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

  • Honoria: Babylon Revisited (also the name of the daughter of Fitzgerald’s friends, Gerald and Sara Murphy.)
  • Ailie: The Last of the Belles
  • Marjorie: Bernice Bobs Her Hair
  • Axia: This Side of Paradise

Whaddya think? Should we go for the gold with Gatsby, boy or girl? (ps - I'm totally not pregnant by the way, so it's a bit of a moot point just now. Or a "moo point," if you've seen that episode of FRIENDS).
